HOW TO CREATE A CASH FLOW MANAGEMENT WORKSHEET

HOW TO CREATE A CASH FLOW MANAGEMENT WORKSHEET

One of the most important areas of a business to keep your eye on is cash flow. This is what keeps your company moving and growing. One way to make sure you’re keeping a healthy cash flow that can support your business and take you further towards your goals of expanding and maintaining business.

The following example of a cash flow management worksheet is just that, an example. Your business may be different, so get creative with your worksheet. If you need to add lines or change things around, that’s okay. Maybe you don’t purchase inventory or you have additional assets you need to account for. Just add those in where appropriate.

UNDERSTANDING HOW THE CASH FLOW MANAGEMENT WORKSHEET WORKS

  • In the first block (lines 3-4), we itemize each of the areas where our business is bringing in cash
  • Line 6, the subtotal, is the sum of lines 3-4
  • In the second block (lines 9-12), we itemize each of the areas where cash is flowing out of the business
  • Line 13, total spent, is the sum of lines 9-12
  • Line 14, our cash flow, is the difference between line 6 (subtotal) and line 13 (total spent). This shows, after everything we have to make payment on, what is leftover from the cash received.
